BOMB THREAT IN HOTEL

Sometimes ago, the United States of America issued an official warning that the most populous black nation on earth may disintegrate come 2015. In swift response, our government rubbished the report as our spiritual leaders assured us of a better nation as seen in visions. In between them, none is lying!

The Americans need our oil. The church needs our offerings; and our government needs our soul. So they all feed on our ignorance and timidity. And we honestly do not know what we need and that is why we are gullible enough to be pushed around without reacting. In this conspiracy, the church ask us to pray for a better nation by faith. Guess its high time we started contributing our offerings by faith and not by money denominations.

Does this writer not believe in prayers? No, I do not. I believe in Jesus but I pray. I also know of certain that when God wants to do something He does not pray. He does it. When He was going to create, He created. When He was planning salvation,He sent His son. When He was going to destroy the earth with flood, He sent Noah to build Ark. When He was going to liberate Isrealites, He sent Moses. David was annointed by God's instruction at an early age yet he fought many fierce battles before becoming king. In all these instances He had the power to will His thoughts and plan into action but did not, because there is a place of prayer and deed. What He has empowered us to do, He will not do. Left alone to Nigerians we will want God to drive BRT buses for us!

The Americans' concern for us is rather complex. Before America sponsored civil unrest in Libya, kerosene, education and energy were free. Communication was good, transportation was even better. Libyans were living large until America came with their apple(democracy) and Libyans ate. Suddenly, they knew the difference  between good and evil. They demanded for freedom as they  wanted to be governed like other nations. The rest has been chaos. That is America's interest.

Our government interest in us is pathetic as we exist as mere numbers  to be counted in election years. That is all. And that is why 200, 150 or so of our daughters will be abducted and the heaven will not fall. The government is still ruling, the followership is following sheepishly. We do not have the names or visual images of abducted girls. Within this year alone, we had lost over 30billons dollars and more than 5000 lives in horrific boko haram attacks. To our insensitive minds, they are all numbers.

This morning, America in a precautionary statement said there is plan by boko haram to bomb a notable hotel  in Lagos. This calls for national security vigilance. The smallest number of rooms in any notable hotel in Lagos is 300. Some have up to 1000 rooms. You can imagine the human traffic. A bomb in any of these hotels spells massive tragedy. Do not bother to pray; we already know the potential danger, its time to work. My training, experience and exposure as hospitality consultant makes me favour preventive security over stationary measures. Checking cars manually for bomb at hotel gates is obsolete as there are more discreet security devices to prevent threats of potential attacks. Your security need to be retrained in modern security operations. Espionage and  surveillance are no longer exclusive preserves of state security services.
